Basic Math (shown on the device as “Basic Math” or “Math Only”) is a math practice app for children and teenagers, made by Abdulsamet Kılınçarslan (“we”). This policy explains what the app does with data on iPhone, iPad and Android. Questions and requests: a.kilincarslan97@gmail.com.

In short

  • No accounts, no ads, no in-app purchases, no chat and no content from other users.
  • Everything the child enters or earns (first name, avatar, level, answers, progress, badges, the teacher's notes) stays on the device. We never receive it.
  • iPhone and iPad: the app collects no data at all.
  • Android: the app sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports to Google Firebase, and can receive push notifications. None of this includes the child's name or answers.

Data that stays on the device

The app stores these on the device only, so that the child can continue where they left off:

Reading messages aloud uses the device's own text-to-speech; no voice or text leaves the device. The app does not use the microphone, camera, location or contacts.

You can delete this data at any time: Settings → “Delete teacher data” removes the teacher's memory, and deleting the app removes everything.

iPhone and iPad

The iOS app has no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or tracking code and makes no network requests during normal use. We collect no data from it. The app does not track users across apps or websites.

Android

The Android app uses these Google Firebase services. Google processes the data for us under the Firebase data processing terms and Google's privacy policy.

ServiceWhat is sentWhy
Firebase AnalyticsWhich screens are opened, which topics a game is started with, the chosen level, a random app-instance ID, device model, system version, country and languageTo see which parts of the app are used and improve them
Firebase CrashlyticsCrash reports: where the app crashed, device model, system version, a random installation IDTo find and fix crashes
Firebase Cloud MessagingA random push tokenTo send general announcements to all users (no personal messages)

Children

The app is made for children. We do not ask for or collect personal information from children: the first name entered in the app never leaves the device, and there is no way to contact other users. Links that leave the app (email, store rating) are behind a parent gate in Settings. If you believe we have received personal information from a child, write to us and we will delete it.

Sharing

We do not sell or share data with anyone. The only data leaving an Android device goes to Google Firebase as described above. When a parent exports statistics as a CSV file, the file goes only where the parent chooses to share or save it.

Your rights

You can ask us what data we hold, or ask us to delete it, by writing to the email address above. Because we receive no names or accounts, in most cases the answer is that we hold nothing that identifies you or your child.

Changes

If the app changes what it collects (for example an online feature), we will update this policy before that version is released and change the date above.
